The Gospel is this: I can't be good enough. He can be good enough in my place. He will be good enough if I recognize these things and ask Him to be good enough in my place. That's how we become followers of Jesus. But, it seems like we forget all of that as soon as we're in. We think that's enough to get us to Heaven and then move on to trying to be good enough once that's covered. In Colossians 2, Paul gives a very different perspective. He says that the Gospel isn't just our entry point, but our whole way of life. This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues in Colossians 2 as Paul tells us to run the race the same way we started the race.

What kind of church should we be? The Apostle Paul had a vision for what he wanted churches to be. He didn't talk about buildings, ministries, or size. Instead, he focused on four qualities he wanted them to pursue as their identity. This week, Pastor Ben Hightower takes us through Colossians 2 to show us the vision Paul had for our church. The apostle Paul was beaten several times, stoned almost to death, shipwrecked several times, bitten by a snake, spent the last several years of his life in jail, and was abandoned by his companions while he was in jail. Why did he keep going? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower looks how Paul used his purpose to keep going and how finding our purpose can keep us going, too. If you were writing a resumé for Jesus, what would you include? Would you talk about carpentry? Would you talk about miracles? When Paul wanted to tell the Colossians who Jesus was, he gave them a resumé, but what he included is not generally what we talk about. This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues in Colossians 1 with Jesus' resumé. |
