When we think of Jesus, the image is usually of a kind man telling people to be nice to each other, offering people healing and forgiveness, and giving up His life for the world. What we don't think of is some being rude to a woman who asks for His help. In Mark 7, He does just that. He insults her for seemingly no reason. The question is why? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues our series on Hard Hearts by looking at what pride does to our hearts and what God will do to break that pride.

There are some things you can only see with a mirror. The Bible acts as a spiritual mirror. This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues our series in Mark by holding up a mirror to us and asks us to judge whether our hearts are hard or soft. Do you have a hard heart? Jesus says that a hard heart is an inability to see, hear, or remember what God is doing. A soft heart sees, hears, and remembers the work of God and is changed by it. A hard heart misses it all. This week, Pastor Ben Hightower takes us through Mark 6 to see the hard hearts of the Apostles and gives us advice on how to let God soften our hearts. Do you trust me? Enough to believe what I say? Enough to loan me your car? Enough to let me have a key to your house? We give different degrees of trust to different people and that's understandable. But what degree of trust do you give to Jesus? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues in Mark 6 to see what the Apostles did when they were faced with that question. |
