When we think of Jesus, the image is usually of a kind man telling people to be nice to each other, offering people healing and forgiveness, and giving up His life for the world. What we don't think of is some being rude to a woman who asks for His help. In Mark 7, He does just that. He insults her for seemingly no reason. The question is why? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues our series on Hard Hearts by looking at what pride does to our hearts and what God will do to break that pride.

There are some things you can only see with a mirror. The Bible acts as a spiritual mirror. This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues our series in Mark by holding up a mirror to us and asks us to judge whether our hearts are hard or soft. Do you have a hard heart? Jesus says that a hard heart is an inability to see, hear, or remember what God is doing. A soft heart sees, hears, and remembers the work of God and is changed by it. A hard heart misses it all. This week, Pastor Ben Hightower takes us through Mark 6 to see the hard hearts of the Apostles and gives us advice on how to let God soften our hearts. Do you trust me? Enough to believe what I say? Enough to loan me your car? Enough to let me have a key to your house? We give different degrees of trust to different people and that's understandable. But what degree of trust do you give to Jesus? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues in Mark 6 to see what the Apostles did when they were faced with that question. Where did you get your Bible? Most people know where their Bible was purchased or who gave it to them, but very few know about the work that was done to preserve and translate their Bible. Pastor Ben Hightower shares with us the history of the Bible, the difference between the major translations, and why this should matter to us.
Are you sitting on the fence when it come to Jesus? You know that He's right, but you're just not ready to let go? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower shows us the story of a man who was perched firmly on the fence, but was brought to a point where he had to make a choice. Can you be a spectator Christian? Is it possible to be a follower of Jesus who just watches and waits without getting in the game? Pastor Ben Hightower opens Mark 6 to answer those questions. How do the Disciples go from regular guys who are scared and who struggle with their faith to people who are preaching and doing powerful works in the name of Jesus? How does a person transition from faithless to fearless? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower takes us through the process that Jesus used to move His disicples from followers to leaders. It's hard to share with someone who doesn't understand what you're going through. As much as they want to help, they don't always have a lot to offer. Does it ever feel that way when you're asking God for help? You are going through something and have no way to affect it, so you have to go to someone else. Someone who can fix anything He wants with the snap of His fingers. Can He really understand what you're going through? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower continues in Mark 5 to show us the story about two daughters and an answer to that question. How long does it take for God to give up on you? Strangers will give up on you fast. Friends and family take a little longer, but if you push them far enough, most will give up on you, too. How far gone do you have to be before God gives up on you? This week, Pastor Ben Hightower gives us that answer from Mark 5. |
